What to put in a problem report

Six things. With them a report can usually be fixed without a second exchange; without them the first reply is always the same set of questions, which costs you a day.

• What you were doing — the page you were on and what you pressed, in the order you pressed it.
• What you expected — one sentence. It is often the part that turns out to be the disagreement.
• What happened instead — the exact wording of any message, copied rather than described.
• When — the date and roughly the time, with your time zone — that is what makes it findable in the logs.
• What you were using — the browser or app, the device, and whether you were signed in.
• If you cannot sign in — which button you pressed on the sign-in screen. Never send a password: nobody here will ever ask for one, and no reply from BrickDb needs it.
