The first published version of a book. For a set, an early production run that differs from later ones.
In book collecting the first edition is the earliest published version of a title, and it is usually the most sought after. A book that came with a minifigure can be reissued with a different figure or none, which makes the edition matter. BrickDb also has a First edition condition flag for copies of sets.
