Find the set from its box
Point the camera at the barcode on a set box, or photograph the box, and BrickDb finds the set.
Every boxed set carries a retail barcode: an EAN-13 in Europe, a UPC-A in North America. Point the camera at it, and BrickDb reads the barcode and finds the set. When it does not know a barcode yet, you can tell it which set the box is, and the next person who scans that box gets the answer. It works in the browser, and in the BrickDb apps for Windows and for Android 8 or later. In the browser it works without a barcode too: photograph the box and BrickDb reads the printed set number off the photo. Looking a set up needs no account.
What you can do
- It reads the EAN-13 or UPC-A barcode on a set box and finds the set.
- In the browser it reads the printed set number from a photo of the box.
- You can type the barcode digits in by hand when the camera cannot read them.
